Australia’s Department of Home Affairs will apply its annual wage indexation to key skilled-visa salary benchmarks on 1 July 2025. From that date, all new nomination applications for employer-sponsored and skills-in-demand visas must meet the updated minimum salary levels or the market salary rate—whichever is higher.
What This Means for Employers and Applicants
All nomination applications lodged on or after 1 July 2025 must be supported by an employment offer that satisfies the relevant new threshold or the annual market salary rate:
- Employers should review and, if necessary, adjust salary offers to ensure compliance before lodging nominations.
- Prospective skilled migrants must confirm that their job offers meet the updated thresholds or risk refusal.
These changes will not apply to existing visa holders or nominations lodged before 1 July 2025.
